A smart Lebanese restaurant with excellent attentive service and great value food. We recommend the excellent mezze, with 10 different dishes, including wine and pudding, starting at around 20€. Sounds a bit naff but we also love the Lebanese burger! **

El Angel Azul

This was once the best restaurant in Valencia, and is still in the top ranking. The food is as good as it looks and sounds on their menu, and the actual restaurant oozes luxury. The menus de degustacion are excellent and terrific value at €30 or €50. There's an exceptional wine list, too. **** editor's choice

This sparsely decorated modern restaurant has an excellent reputation thanks to the owner and chef Bernd Knoller who is always in residence. The famous chef is renown for taking his food seriously and imaginatively prepares the very best of Mediterranean ingredients . As always, we recommend the menu de desugustacion for amazing food that just keeps on coming. ****

This typical Valencian restaurant has been open for 47 years and is still going strong. Value for money and homey Valencian cuisine, they are closed Saturday nights and Sundays. *

El Rincon de Roberto

They describe it as a cafe-bar, but we think its more like a bistro-bar. Always busy at lunchtime, with the terraza overflowing. A great, inexpensive place to visit for a quick and filling spanish meal. *

Don Salvatore Italiano

This huge Italian restaurant has been a favourite with the Valencia football team and the creme de le creme of the city for years now. With over 40 pizzas to choose from, and another 50 other dishes, steaks, solomillos, spicy beef, huge salads with fruit and cheeses. Everything and anything Italian! A welcoming, classy Italian restaurant where a good meal with wine comes to about 18 Euros. Great for groups and a discerning option for couples looking for something fun and Italian. Being the most famous IT restaurant in the community of Valencia be sure to reserve your table! **

Owned by the same people as the renowned La Botega Dell Ozio, Sale & Pepe is an original Italian restaurant that offers a large range of delicious authentic pizzas. With over 30 wines to choose from to accompany your meal, and a large selection of salads, you'd be pushed to not find something you like. *

Il Ghiottone

Another Italian in the canovas area, been open for a while now, try to remember to take advantage of the free bottle of Lambrusco or 20% discount offered Monday to Friday lunchtime. *

This small Turkish restaurant serves terrific home made food, for under 10 euros you can eat bread, kebab, kofte and turkish pizza, they have a huge menu offering everything and anything Turkish, and we recommend the shoarma. The staff here speak French, English, Turkish and Spanish and are more than friendly. *

A small Colombian eatery that serves tasty typical food and liqueurs and offers live Colombian music. *

Rincon Gaucho

Open nights only, this rustic Argentinian restaurant is known for its generous portions, gorgeous meats and friendly staff. **

Piano Vert Fromagerie

This French bistro type restaurant serves gorgeous platters of cheese and pates, and makes great salads. Closed Sundays and only open evenings. **

Kaede

Kaede was one of the first proper sushi / Japanese restaurants to open in Valencia. Not cheap, but Japanese restaurants never are, but not as pricey as you'd expect. If you are a big group they put you on big round tables with a large lazy susan in the middle. A nice, smart, airy place with a good atomosphere. Open from 12.30 to 16.30, and 20.30 to midnight, every day of the week. Remember to book. **

A small and modest typical Japanese restaurant, that offers set menus at a reasonable price. **

Fresco

This huge industrial buffet restaurant, will set you back around 10 euros, and force you to eat and eat and eat. Miles and miles of fresh salads, pizzas, meats, pastas, fresh breads, puddings, ice cream machine, fresh fruit, and all the tea and coffee you can handle. Fresco is the perfect answer to a moaning stomach! *

This Indian restaurant is the second to be opened by the owners - the other, in L'Eliana has good service and great food, We haven't tried the delights on offer here yet but are sure it will be to the sam high standards. * *

Entretapas y Vinos

One of our favourites in Valencia, this restaurant offers exactly what it is called and more. Tapas and fine wines, huge platters of meats and vegetables and everything and anything else Spanish in a trendy setting with fun staff. Perfect for anything from a quick lunch to a big filling dinner. **

Tiki Grill

Owned by the same people as the renown Tony Roma's, this asian/american restaurant offers yummy combos, noodles, ribs, rice, crispy seaweed, beautiful steaks and much more. It has to be said that the staff are a bit dopy, and slow, but be patient because the food is well worth the wait. **

Pinocchio

This two floored Italian restaurant is just off Colon, on the biggest leafy avenue of Valencia, it is great value for pasta, pizza, meat and risotto dishes and is renown for its fab selection of desserts. **
